One day after Azarenka and Badosa battled it out in the singles, they took to the court in the doubles. Just like in round 1, they dominated their opponents from start to finish for an easy victory. The relationship between Azarenka and Badosa was always friendly but it reached another level during Indian Wells. They practiced together and faced each other in the final.
It was a brilliant final that sealed a friendship built on respect for each other which is why they ended up playing doubles in Adelaide together. In their 2nd match of the event, they faced Blinkova and Eikeri, not a very imposing doubles pairing but still one capable of playing a good match. It was a solid effort from them but ultimately Vika and Paula proved better.
They actually lost their serve first to make it 0-1 but came right back furiously knocking off several games in a row. They lad a 4-1 lead and continued applying pressure closing out the set with 6-2. The tremendous ball-striking ability of the pairing from the baseline allowed them to pass through their opponents on the net multiple times.
The 2nd set continued the dominating ways of Badosa and Azarenka as they took an early lead and held it. When serving for the match at 5-3, they lost focus giving the lead back to make it 5-5 but ultimately rallied to win it with 7-5.
