Barty & Peers win Bronze Medal after Djokovic and Stojanovic withdraw from the match

Novak Djokovic and Nina Stojanovic will not contest the Mixed Doubles Bronze Medal match against Barty & Peers after Djokovic withdrew with an injury.

Novak Djokovic will go home empty-handed after he and Stojanovic withdrew from their mixed doubles bronze medal match. It was widely expected Djokovic would be able to get at least one of the bronze medals he fought for today but after a loss to Carreno Busta in the singles he withdrew from the mixed doubles.

The reason given for the withdrawal was 'shoulder injury' to Djokovic who has not given out a statement nor did he speak with the media following the loss to Pablo Carreno Busta. The withdrawal essentially makes Barty and Peers Olympic Medalists with them winning the Bronze medal.

Neither of them had spoken on the win yet but it probably was not the way they wanted to win the medal. Either way, they did and congratulations to them.
