Matteo Berrettini continued his run at the US Open defeating Casper Ruud to reach the 4th round for the 2nd year in a row.

Matteo Berrettini likes to play in New York and his great run at this year's US Open continued with a victory against Ruud. The Italian was the favourite heading into this one and he played like. From the first point, he was more aggressive, played better and ultimately won. The first set was solid one by both players but Ruud lost his serve early in the set giving Matteo the edge he needed. He would go on to serve well throughout it and win it 6-4.
The 2nd set was a similar one because both players played good again with Ruud even holding on for longer. He was winning his service games comfortably not giving Matteo much. He did play his worst game at the worst time losing his serve in the 2nd to last game of the set to give Matteo the 5-4 lead. He would go on to win the next game and set 6-4.
The last set was then Matteo completely took over. Keen on ending the match nice and quick he played his most aggressive style of play attacking Ruud since the serve. It paid off as he hit most of his shots and the Norwegian had no answer to this style of play. He would close it out with a strong 6-2 to give himself the 4th round for the 2nd year in a row.
