Matteo Berrettini extended his grass-court winning streak by another match by defeating Auger-Aliassime in four sets. The Italian continued playing great tennis against a formidable opponent. The first set featured aggressive play by both but Berrettini committed fewer mistakes and that allowed him to win the set with 6-3.
That changed dramatically in the 2nd set as Auger-Aliassime served extremely well with prompted Berrettini to go for winners when he did not need to. In the end, he posted 8 winners to 20 errors and that gave Felix enough chances to win the 2nd set which he did with 7-5.
The 3rd set was a very competitive and close one as both players served well and played well. Neither was particularly better than the other but Berrettini was able to save two break points he faced while Felix did not have the lone he faced. That proved key and Matteo won it with 7-5.
In the 4th one, Berrettini was simply the better player as Felix started feeling a bit fatigued. He could not match Matteo from the baseline and his shots resulted in several unforced errors with Matteo closing it out 6-3.
