Former world number one Boris Becker has completed his first assignment as a coach of Denmark’s Holger Rune.
The 55-year-old joined the coaching staff of the current world number seven after series of disappointing results in the recent past.
Becker’s arrival has brought about a positive impact on the performance of Rune who managed to win some key matches.
Those victories were enough for the 20-year-old to book his place in the upcoming ATP Finals event which was the first task given to Becker when he joined the backroom staff.
Rune’s journey in the ongoing Paris Masters came to an end in the quarterfinal where he suffered a defeat to the current world number one Serbia’s Novak Djokovic with a score of 7-5, 6-7, 6-4.
Before facing the 24-time Grand Slam winner, the Gentofte-born produced some impressive results in the competition.
He defeated one-time Grand Slam winner Austria’s Dominic Thiem in the round of 64 tie with in straight sets a score of 6-4, 6-2.
Later, Rune also went on to beat Germany’s Daniel Altmaier in the second round in straight sets with a score of 6-3, 6-3.
Rune will be joined by seven other elite players in the ATP Finals which will be played in the Italian city of Turin later this month.
