A fan of the 24-time Grand Slam champion, Novak Djokovic and Corentin Moutet came to blows on social media platform, X (formerly known as Twitter) after the Serbian was not featured on ATP or Australian Open headers on their social media with the accusation of ignoring and a bias against him.
Australian Open in particular have used both Coco Gauff (not defending champion Aryna Sabalenka) and the returning Rafael Nadal in recent weeks, with similar issues happening at Wimbledon where he was snubbed from posters towards the back which also drew the ire of Djokovic fans. A figure that polarises tennis, but the same can be said for the reaction to this tweet.
"It's such a bad look. Djokovic is the 10-time reigning @AustralianOpen champion, they along with the @atptour have chosen to ignore him in all their headers. They don't even attempt to hide their bias against him. Stuff like this will just actually motivate Djokovic," they wrote on X.
Corentin Moutet hit back on social media claiming that he was 'born to defend someone that doesn't even know him' before he was dubbed an 'establishment' puppet and belittled for being ranked outside the top 100. This after the account initially asked how he knew they didn't know Djokovic personally.
"This guy is born to defend someone that doesn’t even know him. C'mon brother there is a life out there enjoy lifeee," Moutet wrote with some laughing emojis.
"So here goes @moutet99, out to protect the establishment again. Every industry needs a clown in the circus to carry out orders even those ranked 135. Good job bro," they hit back to which Moutet responded. "Funny to see this guy pointing my “135” ranking as a bad thing. Tells a lot about people’s vision of professional tennis."
