Brandon Nakashima is the 3rd American that secured a spot at the Next Gen Finals in Milan this year after a string of good results late in the year.
The American teenager has established himself in the wave of several new promising American tennis players. Most of his success came in North American soil during the fall but the American also showed some promise playing in the indoor circuit earlier in the year in Europe and in the past few weeks. All those results have allowed the youngster the secure a spot at the Next Gen Finals in Milan.
2021 will mark the first time the ATP Finals and the Next Gen finals will take place in the same country and it will happen in Turin and Milan. Those cities are not that far and maybe we will see several players attend the other event especially the youngsters.
Nakashima rose from world number 170 in the ATP Ranking to a career-best of number 70 this week. As a qualifier at the 2021 European Open in Antwerp, he reached the quarter-finals before losing to Diego Schwartzman. Thanks to the result achieved in Antwerp Nakashima broke the top 100 for the first time in his career.
