Cameron Norrie was 8-1 on clay heading into this one but his form in recent weeks has been rather poor though Cerundolo played a great match to win 6-3 6-4.
The British player didn't have a very good Sunshine double and he didn't play that spectacularly here either. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't good enough to beat a very inspired Cerundolo. The Argentine hasn't played that well this year on clay but he found something here by playing really aggressively.
The shots were falling early as he blasted multiple winners to take a 3-0 lead. Norrie would pull that break back but then lose his serve once more to give Cerundolo the 5-3 lead. He finished off the set 6-3.
Norrie couldn't generate any pressure on Cerundolo who could do the same thing to Norrie. It was evident in the second set where Cerundolo put a lot of pressure on Norrie though he didn't play as sharply as in the first set. Eventually, he did get the break he needed and finished off the match 6-4. A lot of work for Norrie ahead.
