Carlos Alcaraz had a really easy going in the first round of the Roland Garros beating Italian Flavio Cobolli 6-0 6-2 7-5.
The Spaniard is considered one of the candidates to potentially win it all and for the most part, he demonstrated why today. From the start, Alcaraz brought a lot of aggression to the match hitting the ball very hard and quite precise. Cobolli couldn't handle that aggression and found himself down 0-2 early. That snowballed quickly into a first set bagel.
Things didn't look that better in the second set as Alcaraz won it 6-2 as well with the Italian finally getting on the board. The final was an interesting one. It saw Cobolli play the best tennis he played all day forcing a few break points early. Alcaraz held on and eventually took a 5-3 lead but he would get broken when serving for the set.
Still, he rallied in time to keep the match in three sets 7-5. A very solid match from Alcaraz, quite aggressive with 26 winners and 30 unforced errors. He can certainly play a lot better.
