Carlos Alcaraz barely squeezes past Jack Draper in Basel

Carlos Alcaraz needed to dig deep in order to defeat Jack Draper but the Spaniard was able to do so and win the match 3-6 6-2 7-5.

¸It was a complicated affair for Alcaraz but it was always going to be one as Draper proved himself to be a very good player indoors. He proved quite good once more taking the opening set 6-3 against an erratic Alcaraz who struggled to find a good rhythm.

The Spaniard did find it in the second set and took an early 2-0 lead that became a 4-0 lead after some more strong play. He continued playing well finishing up the second set 6-2. The final set was an exciting one as Alcaraz applied heavy pressure on Draper from the start.

He did get an early break and held it for a while but eventually, the Brit was able to break back and make it interesting. He would break once more to take a 6-5 and jumped out to a 40-15 lead. He wasted two match points giving Draper break points but eventually, he saved both break points and closed out the match to move on.
