Welcome to the Roaring 20s 🥳 Defending champion @carlosalcaraz defeats Coric 6-4 6-3 to return to the Madrid final! #MMOpen
Last year's champion Carlos Alcaraz will once again play in the Madrid Open final and it comes after he booked it by beating Borna Coric 6-4 6-3 today.
Alcaraz has been playing well since the start of the event and he did it again today. It wasn't his best, it wasn't some crazy level and there were certainly moments where Coric had the upper hand however Alcaraz was able to raise his level enough to win the match when it mattered the most.
Corci had some minor chances in the first set but he didn't use them and Alcaraz was able to escape with a 6-4. He had a few more winners than Coric which ultimately proved crucial in the set that was determined by a few rallies. The second set was played much better by Alcaraz as Coric didn't serve that well.
The Croatian does best when he can serve well and the second set didn't provide that. Alcaraz was able to exert enough pressure on him breaking him twice in the set to finish it off in two straight sets.
