Felix Auger-Aliassime can add beating a world number one to his resume after the Canadian completed a huge comeback win over Alcaraz to make it 1-1 between Canada and Spain 7-6(3) 4-6 2-6.
In an exciting match between
Carlos Alcaraz and Felix Auger-Aliassime, it was the Canadian who handled the pressure better. Alcaraz needed to win this match to clinch it 2-0 for Spain however he fell up short. It was a decent match from him but he faltered as the match went on, maybe due to fatigue.
It was a close first set with both players winning their service games without many issues. Auger-Alaissime had a late set point at 6-5 but Alcaraz saved it to force a tiebreak which he won. It was 3-1 early for Felix but Alcaraz battled back to win it 7-3 celebrating it with a huge roar.
It was a great set by Felix who serve really strong and attacked really well being the more aggressive player which doesn't happen often when you're playing Alcaraz. In the second set, we saw moments from both Felix outplaying Alcaraz down the stretch to take it 6-4. In the final set, Felix completely outplayed Alcaraz who was simply overwhelmed from the baseline.
This was not a bad match from Alcaraz but rather a very impressive performance and win from Felix Auger-Aliassime.
