Dominic Thiem had a lot of trouble in this one but the Austrian was able to defeat Andreev 3-6 6-3 6-2 to secure the semi-final.
Thiem opted to prepare for this indoor stretch by playing an indoor challenger event in Rennes and so far it's been going good. After two straight sets victories, Thiem tasted his first 3-setter and he was able to pass the past.
It was not with flying colours as the Austrian dropped the first set which he could have avoided but he battled back to win in three sets. That sort of comeback is something he hasn't been able to do earlier in the season and it will certainly give him confidence.
Tennis-wise, it was a decent showing especially after he found his footing as the match went on. He was pretty strong behind his first serve and served rather well for the most part. He saved five of seven break points he faced so that's another good stat.
The only thing that could be a minus was using only four of 11 break points he had but that is something he can clean up with more focus.
