Nick
Kyrgios showered praise on
Carlos Alcaraz and
Novak Djokovic during the
broadcasts of the 2023 ATP Finals.
The former
world No. 13 joined Tennis Channel as a commentator during the Finals in Turin.
Nick Kyrgios, this time in the role of a commentator, teamed up with former
world No. 1 Jim Courier to discuss the moments that surprised him the most
during the season. Kyrgios did not hesitate to choose Alcaraz and Djokovic.
While
acknowledging that at times the Spaniard did not meet the expectations of the
public, Kyrgios emphasized that Alcaraz continues to achieve incredible
milestones at a young age. He also praised the world No. 1 Djokovic for
consistently winning major titles even at the age of 36.
“To be this
young and dominating the way he (Alcaraz) has I think is incredible. There's
always going to be people saying, 'We want more, we want more', but you've got
to be patient with him, I think he's doing enough for that age. Novak is
obviously superhuman, he is an alien from another planet," the Aussie
said.
Kyrgios
also highlighted the other tennis players participating in the ATP Finals,
including Holger Rune, Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Alexander
Zverev.
"All
the other guys, Rune, pulled it together towards the end of the year, he went
through a bit of a struggle period, pulled it back, that's great to see, I like
him. Obviously, Rublev, Medvedev, Zverev, these guys are just so consistent all
the time. Tsitsipas, obviously one of the best ball strikers that we
have," Kyrgios said.
