Carlos Alcaraz played another solid match to take down compatriot
Roberto Bautista Agut 6-3 7-5 in a very competitive match where Alcaraz wasn't the sharpest.
It was a decent showing from Alcaraz but not as sharp as he generally is able to play. Bautista Agut found himself under tremendous pressure most of the time but he was able to force Alcaraz to overhit more than once which is how he stayed competitive for much of this match. He actually got the first break of the match but gave it right back as Alcaraz slowly took over.
The Spaniard struggled with Bautista's ability to change the pace as he would sometimes slow it down a bit which caused Alcaraz to hit balls off balance and they would mostly cruise wide. Alcaraz took the first set 6-3 and then took an early break in the second set but he had trouble hanging on to it.
Bautista broke back and then Alcaraz found a way to break once more but once again lost it. The final time he broke was when it was 5-5 and this time around he was able to hold his serve and win the match.
