One of the most famous tennis events in the world
Wimbledon, is tricky to win according to
Karolina Pliskova who is a former finalist in the event from a few years ago.
Winning Wimbledon is truly hard because it's a Grand Slam event but according to Pliskova it comes down to having a bit of luck with timing as the grass season is rather short and it's very hard to really find a good rhythm leading up to it:
"I feel like you have just two, three weeks, so it just have to be the timing, you have to be, you just have to time also like your shape in that year, to have couple matches that year already that you won and just to feel good. Because then you have two tournaments and then you have Wimbledon. Some players, they just play one. You try one tournament and then you go straight to Grand Slam."
Pliskova made it to the final one year but she lost to Ashleigh Barty in the final. It wasn't her year though she was playing very well and actually had some chances in that match. To her it sometimes it seems like luck is you need to win it especially if you find a good rhythm at the time when it's happening
"I feel like there is not enough time to really like find the timing. I think sometimes can be lucky. Sometimes you just, of course, like Wimbledon is a tournament where you can play, you can close your eyes and you can, I mean, win it."
