Belinda Bencic provided an update to her status on social media revealing that she will miss both the
Madrid Open and the Internazionali BNL d'Italia Rome due to hip discomfort.
The Swiss player last played in Charleston recently where she was the defending champion and made it all the way to the final losing to Ons Jabeur whom she beat the previous year in the final. She hasn't played like that due to a hip issue and she won't play for a while either because of the same issue.
Taking to Instagram, Bencic wrote:
"Hi everyone, I just wanted to provide you all with a quick update that I, unfortunately, will be missing both Madrid and Rome in the next few weeks. I have some discomfort on my hip, which I struggled a bit with during the US swing as well, and need to take a little rest and recover to be back at 100% for Roland Garros. I will miss both tournaments dearly but will be back in a few weeks and can't wait to be back competing soon and continuing in great form."
