Madrid Open is shaping up to be very competitive, as former World No.3
Dominic Thiem has been granted a wildcard to the ATP Masters event.
Hosted in the city of Madrid, Spain from April 26-May 7, the Madrid Open often proves to be one of the most exciting clay-court events of the year. This year's edition could be no different, as two-time finalist Dominic Thiem has been added to the event.
Thiem is on a comeback following a long battle with injuries, and the Austrian is slowly regaining the form and confidence that has seen him reach the final at Roland Garros.
Also receiving a wildcard at the event is trailblazer Abedallah Shelbayh, who became the first Jordanian tennis player to achieve an ATP world ranking. The 19-year old currently sits at World No.267, and has the potential to be a fan favorite.
Both men will join three-time Grand Slam champion
Stan Wawrinka and Spanish teenager Martin Landaluce, who were also granted wildcard entries to the event.
