Just like Sebastian Korda, Carlos Alcaraz proved he was one of the best players in Milan this week by earning a place in the final.
He faced off against Sebastian Baze, a clay court specialist who proved more than capable on hard courts this week in Milan. The Argentianian enjoys plays an attacking style of play yet the power that Alcaraz posses is something he has not yet experienced, and it showed. From the start Alcaraz had the upper hand so much so that at times it seemed unfair.
It took the Spaniard only 38 minutes to go up 2-0 with the first two sets ending with 4-2 4-1. The first two sets consisted of 59 points played and Alcaraz won 40 of them. It was truly stunning and impressive to watch. The 3rd set was a bit more competitive as Baez went all out and rightly so because he had nothing to lose.
That threw Alcaraz off his rhythm a little bit and it gave Baez three consecutive break points at 2-2 in the 3rd set. The Argentinian was up 40-15 in the game but Alcaraz remained calm. Good serves, good forehands and he was able to hold for the 3-2 lead. Determined not to let the match go out of hand he finished it off in the very next game 4-2.
A spectacular week for Alcaraz who did not lose a single match. He and Korda did not lose a match this week and will rightly face off in the final tomorrow.
