Carlos Alcaraz swiftly adds another coach as long association with compatriot ends

Carlos Alcaraz has added another coach to his team for 2025 and one that is very much a familiar face to the Spaniard in the form of Samuel Lopez after he left the team of Pablo Carreno Busta.
For the first time, Juan Carlos Ferrero won't be his only coach. Lopez will also be there which also helps him in times when Ferrero can't attend which saw Alcaraz almost lost on the court.
This brings a semblance of continuity to his setup as he is also well familiar with his compatriot. Lopez has just ended his collaboration with Carreno Busta after 9 years and is ready for a new experience.
Carreno Busta after much injury travails also is seemingly ready for a new voice as he looks to return to his best which saw him win Canada. Lopez already stood in for Alcaraz at the 2022 Miami and the last two editions of Queen's as well as the 2023 Australian Open.
With Carreno Busta out injured for a prolonged period and Ferrero being unable to travel to certain tournaments, it acted as a second in command which he officially becomes now. It is a week full of announcements for Alcaraz too.
Already he has been confirmed for Laver Cup and Queen's next year and Lopez will take up his role in Rotterdam in February. Adding an extra voice he will hope won't muddy the waters too much and will give him the extra 10% he needs to master further surfaces that he has yet to really hone in on.
Jannik Sinner of course has done so with his two coaches with Darren Cahill and SImone Vagnozzi both serving different purposes but both being there to achieve the same goal which is to make the Italian into a winning machine which they have done.
