The 3-time Grand Slam champion
Carlos Alcaraz has been
confirmed for an exhibition in September in Charlotte, North Carolina. The
Spaniard will face local
Frances Tiafoe in a men's match, while there will be a
women's match between 2017 US Open finalists
Madison Keys and
Sloane Stephens.
The exhibition will take place at the Spectrum Center, home
of the Charlotte Hornets basketball team. It is scheduled for December 6th,
once the regular ATP season is over, considering that the Davis Cup Finals will
end on November 24th.
"All eyes will be on Charlotte as some of the biggest
names in tennis face off in an event unlike any other," said Charlotte
Sports Foundation executive director Danny Morrison. "Expect unparalleled,
elevated hospitality that only the Queen City can provide and, of course, elite
competition in a sport that's captivated the world."
The recent French Open champion expressed his gratitude for
the opportunity to compete in the exhibition. "I am appreciative for the
opportunity to compete in the Charlotte Invitational this December,"
Alcaraz said. "Fans can expect an incredible night and we look forward to
providing an unforgettable experience for all in attendance."
