Carlos Alcaraz played his 2nd match in Barcelona today, taking down Pablo Carreno Busta in straight sets 6-3 6-2.
Not many expected Alcaraz to play with much energy after playing well over three hours against De Minaur today. It was a very emotional day for him as he saved two match points in that match which left him quite drained. He also had a foot issue that bothered him and required medical assistance. None of that mattered about 4 hours later when he took to the court against his compatriot Carreno Busta.
Alcaraz came out with inspiration and fire playing some spectacular tennis at the start of the match. Carreno Busta looked quite slow and fatigued which he should not have been as he dispatched Schwartzman quite easily earlier today. He had about two hours more of rest than Alcaraz but he was still quite flat.
Alcaraz took the lead and never looked back finishing off the first set with 6-3. The Spaniard kept applying pressure early in the 2nd but Carreno held firm for a while. Even so, Alcaraz kept up and Carreno faltered once more losing his serve twice for the 6-2 finish.
