Casper Ruud and
Carlos Alcaraz played a match to determine who will finish 3rd at the
Mubadala World Tennis Championships and Ruud won 6-1 6-4.
Having not played in a month is certainly giving Alcaraz some trouble early in the season as he's simply not playing that well at the moment. Casper Ruud had his own struggles recently but he proved much better in this one taking it in two sets 6-1 6-4. It's his second win over Alcaraz and interestingly enough, both came during exhibition events.
The proper ones were won by Alcaraz including the US Open and Miami Open final. Ruud started off really well taking an early 5-0 lead against the Spaniard who eventually found some good rhythm in the second set. It was a rather fast-paced match lasting only 68 minutes. The second set was far more competitive but Alcaraz faltered toward the end as Ruud took the break at 5-4.
He then closed out the match 6-4 with the final coming up shortly after this match. A good win for Ruud.
