Ruud Miami 1
Casper Ruud capped off a great week in Miami with another stellar performance taking down Cerundolo 6-4 6-1 to move to the Miami Open final.
It's a result that was largely expected as Cerundolo did extremely well to reach the semifinal yet his run was not that impressive when put into perspective. He's benefitted from two retirements and his most impressive win was against Monfils who generally doesn't play well in Miami. Ruud on the other hand beat a couple of great players including a very solid Zverev in the previous round.
Ruud entered this match as the favourite and he played like it. It took some time to identify to weak spots in the game of Cerundolo but once the Norwegian knew what to attack he pretty much cruised. He broke the Argentinian very late in the set at 5-4 to win it with 6-4. That gave him a lot of confidence heading into the 2nd as it completely demolished his confidence of Cerundolo.
That allowed Ruud to cruise pretty easily in the 2nd set finishing off the job with 6-1. Most of his damage came on the 2nd serve which is the area Cerundolo attacked him as well. But Ruud served a bit better and chose his spots better and that proved enough.
