Ceccinato does see comparisons between Alcaraz and Nadal: "He reminds me a lot of Rafa Nadal"

Former top 20 player Marco Cecchinato sees a lot of similarities between Alcaraz and Nadal despite many saying that they are quite different.

Many have compared Alcaraz and Nadal since the young player broke out in a major way and while some noted similarities most would say they are not that similar. Alcaraz himself idolized Federer more than Nadal while growing up but for Marco Cecchinato, there is no doubt. There is a lot of similarities between them:

"I had a good training with Carlos. He's really an extraordinary boy, and he's very strong. I've seen him grow a lot compared to the training sessions we've had in the past. ... Compared to a year ago, he is much more powerful and he sees that he is working to play the forehand winner right away. In some ways he reminds me a lot of Rafa (Nadal)."

The fighting spirit is very similar as neither player really give up on a point and both their playing styles are very physical. Alcaraz possesses a lot of power for a young player and it's a signature of his tennis which makes it so exciting. He opened the year with two defeats after not playing for a month but admitted he'll be in top form for the Australian Open.
