Marin Cilic feels very privileged to have shared the court with the big three as called them the pinnacles of the sport they all enjoy so much.
Cilic has had a tremendous career so far as the Croatian was able to win a grand slam in the middle of the big three era which is incredible in itself. He bested Federer at the US Open directly to book the final and then defeated Nishikori in the final to claim it so it wasn't some fluke win either. He's had some big battles with them and admitted once to watching highlights of their matches on YouTube:
"Yes, I do. Very often I would go on YouTube and watch highlights of many of their matches. Those were the pinnacles of the sport. Roger, which career was so long, don't remember him so vividly (his early days). 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 were some of his most incredible years."
On Federer, specifically, Cilic said:
"As a player he transformed tennnis, and those moments I remember them, some with positives, some with negatives, but those are the ones that pushed me to go stronger and get myself to another level."
He played Federer 11 times and won only once, at the famous US Open. A career-defining win.
