Coach Riccardo Piatti believes Sinner and Berrettini could win Grand Slams in 2023: "Jannik can win on any surface, on grass Matteo will be very hard to beat"

Prominent Italian coach Riccardo Piatti believes that both Jannik Sinner and Matteo Berrettini can win grand slams in 2023 as the best Italian players.

Piatti knows Sinner and Berrettini well and he believes that both have the talent to win a grand slam event. Berrettini was once in a grand slam final and a couple of times in semi-finals so he's not that far away but there are some things holding him back. Sinner is a major talent who will certainly win one but so far he's not made the breakthrough.

Speaking about them, Piatti noted:

"Sinner and Berrettini can win a Grand Slam this year because they have taken all the necessary steps to get to this [position. Jannik can win on any surface, on grass Matteo will be very hard to beat for everyone: for me it was right to stop and I hope pay attention to how he plays on clay and American hard to give his best on the green."

Asked about Musetti, Piatti said:

"Musetti is a little further back: he is learning from lost matches."
