Coco Gauff finally played a really strong match and it came in the Dubai quarter-final against
Madison Keys with the younger American booking a spot in the semi-final.
The chance to play in the quarter-final came after Rybakina pulled out before their match and Gauff is taking advantage of her draw. It's a matchup where both had wins prior to this one but Gauff is very tough for Keys because she moves so well and gets to every ball. That was what happened in the first set as Gauff was on every ball and Keys struggled to find a breakthrough.
She had only one winner and 22 unforced errors in the set which Gauff won 6-2. The second set was much more competitive between the players as Keys played a lot better. Gauff stood her ground well and didn't allow too much to Keys though she did throw away an early break in the second set.
Eventually, she got another one and finished off the job 6-2 7-5 to secure the semi-final. She'll need to be quite a bit better in order to book the final but for now, she'll take it.
