broke down in tears after her elimination from the US Open. The world No. 1
looked unrecognizable during her quarterfinal match against Jessica Pegula,
with over 40 unforced errors. The American secured a convincing victory, 6-2,
6-4, advancing to her first Grand Slam semifinals.
After the
defeat, the 5-time Grand Slam champion mentioned in the press conference that
she tries to reduce the pressure on herself by keeping expectations low when
entering a tournament: "I always try to have lower expectations because I
know any of us can win this tournament, and it won't be easy,” she said. “Also,
I feel like when I have high expectations, I never perform well, so I try to
lower them.”
In a video
shared on social media, US Open cameras captured the moment Swiatek broke down
in tears while undergoing post-match recovery with her physiotherapist.
Kalinskaya
back in Sinner’s box for semifinal run
During the
past French Open in May, Jannik Sinner confirmed his relationship with Anna
Kalinskaya amidst growing rumours about their romance. The WTA World No. 15 had
not been seen in previous matches in the Italian’s box, but this time, she was
present to support him in his match against Daniil Medvedev.
Both
players have decided to keep details of their relationship private when asked.
Recently, they were photographed on holiday on the beaches of Sardinia after
their time at Wimbledon. However, a few weeks later, rumours of a breakup
started on social media when the Russian player unfollowed Sinner on Instagram.
Nonetheless,
it seems clear that Sinner and Kalinskaya’s relationship is at peace. They also
shared moments together after Sinner’s victory, which allowed him to reach the
semifinals and become the fourth player to achieve at least a semi-final in all
four Grand Slams in a single season.

congratulates Alex Morgan on her incredible football career
Ons Jabeur
congratulated footballer Alex Morgan on her career after the American announced
her retirement. The Tunisian 3-time Grand Slam champion recently missed the
Cincinnati Open and US Open due to physical complications and is set to drop
out of the top-20 for the first time in three years.
Meanwhile,
the 35-year-old footballer announced the end of her career this Sunday, playing
her final match in the NWSL with San Diego Wave. Morgan leaves a lasting legacy
as a two-time World Cup champion and a key figure in the golden generation of

Alcaraz
training for Davis Cup after US Open setback
The 4-time
Grand Slam champion is already back training for his upcoming challenges.
Alcaraz suffered a surprising second-round exit at the US Open, losing in
straight sets to Botic van de Zandschulp.
The Ferrero
Tennis Academy’s X account shared a series of photos of the world No. 3
training under the guidance of his coach, French Open champion Juan Carlos
Ferrero.
From
September 15, Alcaraz will once again represent his country, leading the
Spanish team in the Davis Cup. Spain has been drawn into Group B alongside
Australia, the Czech Republic, and France, with the series set to take place in

Fernandez shared a video blog about her days at the US Open. The 23rd seed
suffered a painful first-round defeat against Anastasia Potapova, 2-6, 6-4,
7-5, falling far below expectations for the former runner-up.
Despite the
early exit, Fernandez recently shared a video showcasing part of her routine in
the days leading up to the tournament, including her training sessions, meals,
and even how she analyses her statistics to improve aspects of her game. “I’m
excited to show you the behind-the-scenes on how I bring out my best,” the
former US Open runner-up said. The video also shows Fernandez's journey from
her hotel to the training centre.
“I’m just
about to warm up, I’m getting ready to get on court to get ready for the last
Slam of the season,” she said. “I normally warm up between 45 minutes to one
hour,” la former world No. 13 added.
“As the
last Grand Slam of the year is coming to an end, here’s a little throwback at a
day in my life getting ready to bring out my best for the tournament 💪” she captioned in her post on
Instagram.
Simone Biles
shows support for Iga Swiatek at US Open
Simone
Biles attended the quarterfinal match between Iga Swiatek and Jessica Pegula.
The 11-time Olympic medalist was a special guest at the match, where Pegula
advanced to the US Open semifinals for the first time.
The gymnast
arrived at Arthur Ashe Stadium with her husband, NFL player Jonathan Owens, and
mentioned that she was there to support world No. 1 Iga Swiatek: “Oh my gosh!
So far, it’s been electric. It’s a lot quieter than I anticipated, but it’s an
absolutely beautiful atmosphere," Biles said. "Me and my husband are
such big fans of Iga, so to come here and watch her work is just a blessing and
an honour."
The match
ended with a dominant victory for Pegula, 6-2, 6-4, eliminating the 2022
champion. Despite Swiatek’s disappointing performance, marked by numerous
unforced errors, Simone Biles was pleased with an exciting day of tennis at
Flushing Meadows: “Tennis is such a classy sport,” she wrote after the match on
social media.
Sabine Lisicki
enjoys beach days ahead of baby’s arrival
Sabine
Lisicki shared beach photos amid her pregnancy. The former Wimbledon runner-up
and 34-year-old German announced in March this year that she was expecting her
first child and is now in the final stage of her pregnancy.
Meanwhile,
the former world No. 4 is enjoying some time off at the beach and shared photos
on her social media. Despite her absence from the Tour throughout the year, she
expressed her excitement: “Life is full of unexpected surprises. My fiancé and
I are looking forward to this exciting journey. And… I guess I will have to
make one more comeback,” she announced back in March.
