British number one
Dan Evans has pulled out of the Tokyo
Olympic Games after testing positive for the coronavirus.
It's the 2nd instance for the British Tennis Olympic Team of a positive coronavirus test after Johanna Konta also contracted the virus days earlier. Both of them have been forced to pull out from the event due to it. Evans announced the news on his Instagram account writing:
"Hi guys, unfortunately, I recently tested positive for COVID-19. As a result, I will not be able to prepare and get myself ready for Tokyo. I am hugely disappointed and currently self-isolating according to the guidelines set out by the Government. I want to wish the entire GB team all the very best for the games and look forward to being back on the court in the near future."
It's currently not known if somebody will replace Evans on the British team as Konta was not replaced by anyone on the women's side. The reason was that nobody was ranked high enough to qualify which left Heather Watson without a doubles partner.
