Daniil Medvedev is in his 3rd consecutive quarter-final after the Russian defeated Alexander Bublik 6-4 6-2 in Dubai.
He played a really solid match overall proving a very tough matchup for Bublik who hasn't played that well against Medvedev in the past. The Russian finally found his rhythm in recent weeks winning trophies in Rotterdam and Doha. Now he has a chance to secure another one this week and so far it's been going well.
The first set was a close one as Bublik played well enough to keep Medvevedev away from many chances. Eventually the Russian would wait for a weaker game by Bublik and pounce to take a 5-4 lead. He finished off the set 6-4. The second set was far easier for him as Bublik's game kind of eroded.
Bublik tried to be very aggressive and he outhit Medvedev in terms of winners posting 22 to his opponent's 18. He did have far more errors as well at 18 compared to Medvedev's six. That was the difference.
