Daniil Medvedev will return to the world number #1 on June 13th, with Alexander Zverev #2. Novak Djokovic will stay on top for one more week.
Despite not playing a great Roland Garros, Daniil Medvedev will make his return to number one in men's tennis on June 13th.
Medvedev returns to number largely thanks to Rafael Nadal who took care of Djokovic in the quarterfinal causing him to lose some points. Djokovic won the event last year and when the points drop on June 13th he will slide all the way back to number 3 which will be his lowest ranking in a while. Medvedev will remain number one even after Wimbledon thanks to Djokovic defending 2000 points at Wimbledon.
Even if the Serbian defends them, he still won't return to number one despite Medvedev not playing at the event. Nadal's 'win' over Zverev also ensured that this scenario plays out this way as Alexander Zverev had a chance to reach number one if he won the event.
He sadly injured his ankle and was forced to retire from the match meaning that won't be happening. He will still get to number two which is a new career-high for him.
