A dream week in Doha-Qatar Open didn't end with the trophy for Andy Murray but he pushed Daniil Medvedev quite a bit in the final despite the Russian playing great tennis.
Yes, it was a very good match from both players but ultimately Medvedev had enough. It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if the British player didn't spend 10 hours on the court before the final because he sometimes looked a bit too slow. Medvedev played a fair match, solid from start to finish with some brilliance sprinkled into it.
We also saw some of his typical loosenesses which generally doesn't cost him matches but it could someday. He opened the match with an early break and then added another one for the 4-1 lead. Murray pulled one back and had a chance to pull the other back but as always, a serve was there to the rescue.
The Russian had the serve working really well when he needed it in this match. Murray resorted to being aggressive and going to the net but it didn't that well too often. Medvedev had his passing shot working really well, almost too well. The second set was another competitive one but Medvedev ultimately sealed the deal 6-4 6-4.
