World no. 2
Daniil Medvedev will not compete at this year's Monte Carlo Masters 1000 event following a positive coronavirus test from Monday, April 12!
Medvedev was supposed to start his Monte Carlo campaign on Wednesday, but instead of that, he has to isolate himself and follow instructions from the ATP Medical Team.
The Russian said it's a big disappointment to miss Monte Carlo and that he wants to fully recover and get back to action as soon as possible. Daniil scored four of his five Monte Carlo wins two years ago when he reached the semi-final, beating Novak Djokovic en route to the last four, where he experienced a loss to Dusan Lajovic.
Daniil has won 17 out of 20 matches in 2021, delivering the ATP Cup title for Russia alongside Andrey Rublev and reaching the Australian Open final. Medvedev's last ATP tournament came in Miami, where he suffered a defeat to Roberto Bautista Agut in the quarters.
