The first clay Masters is upon us with the famed 2021 Monte-Carlo Masters starting on April 11th and running till April 18th.
The Monte-Carlo Masters is one of the more famous tennis events in the year with most of the tennis elite attending an event not far from where they live. Tennis players enjoy living in Monaco and a premier event meters away from home is always enticing.
Besides the location which is hardly better anywhere a hefty prize pool of €2,460,585 is also the main reason why many players never miss the chance to attend this event. Novak, Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev, Rafael Nadal, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Alexander Zverev will all be attending.
The event has not been held in 2020 due to the pandemic while the defending champion is Fabio Fognini who defeated Dusan Lajovic in the final. The Italian will be looking to possibly win another trophy here which gets you 1000 ATP points and €251,085. The consolation prize for the losing player in the final is 600 ATP points and €150,000. The semifinalist will get 360 ATP points and €85,000.
