David Goffin has pulled out of
Wimbledon due to an ankle injury he sustained in the 1st round of the NOVENTI OPEN in Halle.
Belgium number one David Goffin will miss Wimbledon after a very unlucky injury he sustained at the NOVENTI OPEN in Halle. Goffin was cruising in his 1st round match vs Corentin Moutet but an unfortunate slip on the grass hurt his ankle. Goffin continued to play the match he was a break up in the 2nd set after winning the first with 6-1.
Moutet was able to rally back into the match and win the 2nd set with 7-5 after which Goffin retired. Speaking to the Belgian press after the match he said:
"I'll have to have some tests to know exactly what has happened."
Goffin's agent Martin Roux confirmed he will miss Wimbledon:
“Yes, David has officially withdrawn from Wimbledon following his ankle injury in Halle. For the moment we do not know more about the exact duration of unavailability. He is of course disappointed to miss a Grand Slam tournament, especially since he had recovered well on grass before his injury."
Goffin himself posted an update on his social media which you can read below.
