Ticket sales for
Wimbledon started today and tennis fans slammed the tournament for the chaos that ensued on social media.
Wimbledon is the 3rd Grand Slam of the season and the first and only played on grass with ticket sales officially starting today. For the 2021 edition of the event, a new way of purchasing tickets was introduced. The All England Club introduced a new system with fans needing to register for a myWimbledon portal to receive a code.
The process of course did not go smoothly as many fans took to social media to slam the system claiming numerous errors such as not receiving a code to codes being termed invalid. Some of the comments include:
"What an utterly shambolic ticket sales event."
"Some don’t have access codes to unlock the ability to purchase – I thankfully do! Sadly the code doesn’t work."
"Got to the final section, tickets in basket, code applied… for them to say ‘incorrect’ when [it’s] literally off my email! JOKE!"
There will be 50 per cent capacity at matches from the start of the tournament, with full crowds expected for the men’s and women’s final as part of the UK Government’s series of test events at major sporting fixtures.
