Day 2: Results at the St. Petersburg Open, Rublev with a comeback

The second day at the St. Petersburg Open brought 6 matches in which up to two home players managed to get into the second round.

In the first match Janko Tipsarevic, who qualified for the tournament through the so-called Protected Ranking, played against Dzumhur. The former world number eight, who announced retirement after Davis Cup in Madrid, gave up the match in the third set.
In the second match, Carballes Baena outplayed Martin Klizan in an hour and a half after two sets of 6-2 and 7-5. Klizan added 6th loss in a row to his account which makes already 10 losses in the last 11 matches.
This was followed by a successful evening for the home Russians, when first Donskoy managed to win and then Rublev continued successful evening for home spectators. Donskoy won his match much more clearly by winning over Viola 6-2 and 6-1 after more than an hour.
Although Andrey Rublev had to turn the match with Ivashka after losing the first set, he won the match 4-6, 6-0 and 6-4. The Russian followed the great form from the tournaments in the US, where he defeated, among others, Roger Federer.
