Alex De Minaur reached the quarterfinals of the US Open following a straight-sets victory against
Vasek Pospisil. The Canadian has been having an extraordinary campaign so far but his run was halted by Alex De Minaur and his ferocious style of play. The 1st set happened as many predicted that the majority of the match will, as a tightly contested affair with no breaks. Naturally, such a match gave us a tiebreak which was once again closely contested. De Minaur ultimately won it 8-6 taking the 1st set.
The 2nd set was much easier for the Australian who found a way to break the serve of Pospisil. The Canadian wasn't serving as well as he was capable but De Minaur's return had to do a lot with it. After the break, his confidence grew exponentially and he won the 2nd set 6-3. The 3rd set started off brilliantly for De Minaur who broke Vasek early allowing him to play downhill tennis.
He continued to play well during the rest of the set and he would close out the set and match with 6-2. It was a strong display from the Australian who has looked formidable so far in this event. Can he reach his 1st career grand slam semifinal remains a valid question?
