Juan Martin Del Potro said that Buenos Aires could be his final event before the match and after losing in the first round he hinted at retirement.
Former US Open champion Juan Martin del Potro made a losing return to the court after two and a half years out with injury - and does not know if he will play again. The Argentine was beaten 6-1 6-3 by compatriot Federico Delbonis at the
Argentina Open and after the match he said:
"Possibly we may not meet again. I will speak to the doctors again. I have to take care of my knee and then we will see. If today was the last time, I will leave happy."
Del Potro did not look terrible on the court considering the circumstances but it's very questionable whether he can improve at all and whether he can be pain free. He did not specify how his knee felt during the matchu but he wasn't filled with optimism either. It's very likely that it was his final match. TIme will tell.
