Juan Martin Del Potro found himself on a court again however it wasn't one that he's used to as he exchanged a tennis one for a
padel one.
Del Potro has been working toward a return to tennis in order to play at the US Open one final time. The Argentine would like to say goodbye to the sport on the court where he won the biggest trophy of his career. It's not clear whether he will make it however he did return to a court which is a positive sign.
It was a padel one as he attended an exhibition match in Florida which launched a professional league there. He is serving as a strategic advisor to one of the teams part of the league and he was on the court part of the exhibition match hoping to inspire others to take up the sport as he will serve as an ambassador as well.
Speaking at the event, Del Potro said:
"I like to play. My big mistake is that I want to play padel (like) a tennis player — completely the same way. (But) when you hit hard, you will lose the point. It’s completely different, tennis and padel. Now I’m getting used to how to play. I need to be coached to improve."
