Juan Martin del Potro hung up his racquet recently at the Argentina Open in Buenos Aires losing to compatriot, Federico Delbonis.
But the talking point pre and post match was of course his retirement and also the emotions of the great Argentinian who admitted that he just wanted to sleep without pain.
He said that's what he wanted after his appearance to signal his farewell but it seems that he will have further medical treatment to achieve that goal.
As per Sebastian Torok and
Lanacion, he will head to the renowned Rennbahnklinik in Switzerland where Federer, Djokovic, Tsitsipas, Fognini and Andujar were treated. This after he also hinted on the other side of the coin that he could yet come back.
“There are cases of players in tennis who close the shutter and then miraculously come back for one thing or another. I will always leave that window open. If tonight was the last, I was happy. But who wouldn't want to feel that again? Now tennis is on the sidelines until I try to improve my leg. If I can do it, I'll see."
