Del Potro vows to fight against his injuries

Juan Martin Del Potro has been battling injuries for a very long time and he is determined to return to tennis in 2021.

The last time Juan Martin Del Potro played in a tennis match was in 2019 in London when he played Denis Shapovalov. He suffered a serious knee injury in that match and after that underwent three surgeries to fix the issue. The last came in August and it's not known when the 32-year old will return to competitive tennis.

“I have been fighting with my knee. It’s hard for me to come back, it’s a reality. I still stand by the desire to play again that I have, and I don’t think I have to close this stage (my career) yet."

He continued by saying that his desire is to compete at the Olympics:

“I want to be at the Olympic Games, that makes me continue to be excited. Because of the damn pandemic, they will go to next year. I think it would be a prize to represent Argentina once again. That is why I am going to continue fighting.”

In the end he concluded by saying:

"I love tennis, I want to meet again with all the people who helped me make this career. And I want to do it from inside the court, not from outside. That is my natural place.”
