Germany’s
Jan-Lennard Struff has been included in the list
of players for the upcoming Ultimate Tennis Showdown (UTS) Frankfurt
competition.
The 33-year-old has struggled with fitness concerns in the
recent past but despite that, he has been included in the list as a replacement
for Australia’s
Nick Kyrgios.
The 28-year-old has not featured in any big event this year because
of fitness concerns and recently announced that he will miss the upcoming US
Open as well.
On the other hand, Struff last played a match in June
earlier this year during the Halle Open and since then is spending time on the
sidelines because of a hip injury.
It is because of this reason he missed the recently concluded
Wimbledon 2023 as well.
Struff is not the only injured player who has been added to
the list of players who will feature in the competition as it also included
America’s Reilly Opelka.
The 25-year-old, just like Kyrgios, has not featured in any
of the major events this year because of injuries.
The competition will also feature some other big-name
players including the likes of the current world number three Russia’s Daniil Medvedev,
his fellow countryman Andrey Rublev, America’s Christopher Eubanks, France’s Gael
Monfils, Diego Schwartzman of Argentina and France’s Benoît Paire.
