Spain’s young tennis star
Carlos Alcaraz has stated that he
was watching the training of Rocky IV during the rain break.
The 20-year-old is currently taking part in the Cincinnati
Open (Western & Southern Open) where his round of 16 match against America’s
Tommy Paul was halted because of rain.
Tennis TV posted a video of Alcaraz watching something on mobile
during the break to which the current world number one
responded by saying: “Actually
watching rocky IV training.”
The El Palmer-born went on to win the match with a score of 7-6,
6-7, 6-0 to book his place in the last-eight where he is due to face Australia’s
Max Purcell on Friday.
The result was an important one for Alcaraz, especially
after suffering an early exit in the National Bank Canadian Open against Paul
just a week back.
The current top-ranked player will be hoping to continue his
winning run going, especially ahead of the upcoming US Open where he will be
defending his title.
The fourth and last Grand Slam of the year is set to begin
in less than 15 days’ time where players from all over the world will compete
for the ultimate glory.
Alcaraz won the US Open last year after beating Norway’s
Caper Ruud in the final with a score of 6–4, 2–6, 7–6(7–1), 6–3.
