With the success of the Battle of the Brits during the lockdown, another event has been organized featuring Great Britain's top and upcoming tennis players.
Termed "the Battle of the Brits Premier League", this four day event will run from Sunday December 20 till Wednesday December 23 2020. It will be hosted at the National Tennis Center in Roehampton, where Britain's finest will compete indoors on hard courts.
The event will feature 16 players (both men and women) playing in a 30-match round-robin league format, that will see each player play at least once across the four days.
The tournament scoring system will be best of three sets, with Match Tiebreaks for deciding sets. The points system will see three points awarded to players who record a win over any player ranked inside the world’s Top 250, two points for a win over a player ranked between 251-600 and one point for winning a set while losing a match. The men’s and women’s players with the most points at the end of the final day will be crowned league champions.
Several top UK talent will be showcased at the event, as stars like three-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray, British No.1 Dan Evans and the upcoming Cam Norrie will partake in different exciting matchups on the men's side. The women's section features former WTA top 40 star Heather Watson, as well as Naomi Broady and Katie Boulter.
Matches will start from 10am GMT on Sunday December 20, with Dan Evans taking on Murray on Day One. Evans defeated the former World No.1 1-6 6-3 10-8 in the last Battle of the Brits in June, before eventually taking the title.
The Battle of the Brits Premier League of Tennis will be streamed exclusively on the LTA’s YouTube and Facebook channels.
