Taylor Fritz has been one of the players Netflix followed around this season and the American explained he just tried to be himself.
After taking a look at the Formula One backstage, Netflix looked for other sports that were eager to reveal their inner workings. The tennis leadership pondered whether something like this could help advance the sport in light of the Formula One series' enormous popularity. Despite being a very fascinating sport to watch, tennis does struggle to captivate young fans as well as other sports.
So in order to counter all of that, tennis and Netflix partnered up for a series similar to the Formula One one where the crew will film players through their daily lives revealing a part of the game unknown to most fans. One of the players they followed was Taylor Fritz and he was a very good choice.
The American is having a very good season so far as he won his maiden ATP 1000 trophy in Indian Wells. To get it, he defeated Rafael Nadal for whom that was the first defeat of the season. In a recent interview, Fritz touched upon the series saying:
"I've really just tried to really be myself 'cause I think it's going to be the best thing in the end. I just really don't want to be a robot. I'm tired of that kind of stuff in tennis especially."
The air date of it is still unknown but most fans speculate it to be sometime in the offseason so both the ATP and Netflix can gauge the impact it had.
