Former WTA world number one Rennae Stubbs thinks that Djokovic's win over Nadal in Paris this year is one of the biggest wins of his career.
The match between Djokovic and Nadal in the
French Open semifinal was a brilliant one that saw Djokovic come back from losing the first set to winning the next three in convincing fashion. It displayed a fully focused Djokovic completely breaking down Nadal on his favorite surface in the Arena where he was close to unbeatable for many years.
Rennea Stubbs was surprised by the result, as many others and remembering that match she said:
"Rafael Nadal losing to
Novak Djokovic at the French Open - that was in my opinion a real changing of the guard of truly who the GOAT will end up being. The fact that Rafa lost was pretty crazy."
Stubbs further gushed over the match explaining how great it truly was:
"The third set of that match is the greatest set I've ever watched in my life. It was not the best match ever, but it is definitely the greatest set of all time. Maybe if we had best-of-three matches, that would have been the greatest match of all time."
Djokovic ended up moving to the final and besting Stefanos Tsitsipas in 5 sets to win the trophy.
