Withdrawals/replacements: Novak Djokovic (replaced by Dusan Lajovic), Dominic Thiem, Dennis Novak (Austria replaced by France), Andrey Rublev, Aslan Karatsev, Evgeny Donskoy (Evgeny Karlovskiy comes in), Austin Krajicek
Novak Djokovic will not play for Serbia at the 2022 ATP Cup and will be replaced by Dusan Lajovic raising doubts over his Australian Open participation.
The ATP Cup posted the full lineups of teams participating in the event and a notable absentee was Novak Djokovic for Team Serbia. The Serbian was scheduled to take part in the event but never publicly confirmed nor denied it. Various media reports have speculated whether he would play with a Serbian Newspaper Blic reporting a few days ago that he would not.
The same news outlet reported yesterday that Djokovic is likely going to play at the Australian Open with Tennis Australia pushing the Victorian government to give him an exception for the event. All those information seem to indicate that Djokovic did not get vaccinated and does not intend to which makes this withdrawal expected.
It's assumed that Djokovic is waiting to see whether Tennis Australia can bypass the official rules of the event in order for him to be able to play at the Australian Open. Blic also reported that the Victorian government is likely to accept the proposal of Tennis Australia. Time will tell.
