Tennis coach Darren Cahill believes a Calendar Grand Slam by Djokovic would be a monumental thing for tennis.
Novak Djokovic has the opportunity to do something which has never been done in the Tennis Open Era. A calendar Grand Slam was last achieved by Rod Laver many many years ago and such a thing is unheard of in the Open Era. However with Djokovic winning all 3 of this years Grand Slams the achievement is within reach.
Tennis coach Darren Cahill believes it would be a monumental thing as he explained:
"If Novak wins the Grand Slam, nobody will say 'But,' at least nobody who knows anything about tennis. He's attempting to do something that no male has done since the great Rod Laver in 1969. It would be a monumental achievement. Novak's focus will be entirely on the US Open."
Cahill was referencing to the famed 'GOAT' status which is a very subjective matter but is deeply rooted in statistical achievements as well. Djokovic who already holds several impressive all-time records has a monumental chance to elevate himself even higher at this years US Open.
His focus will be solely on that trophy especially after missing out on a medal in Tokyo. The Serbian admitted to battling several injuries in Tokyo which he will need to heal in time for the US Open.
